Weekend Shenanigans....

Monday already -- this weekend went by WAY too fast! I am so bummed the weekend is over.

I crashed at my sisters Friday night...Mom, Sam, Paige & I all wound up in Samantha's room watching movies & painting our nails and toenails to match our shirts for the Heart Walk. It was pretty much as girly of a night as you could possibly get. And then Sam & I caught up on our reality tv.... (Are we the only sisters that kick my sisters poor husband out of his own bed for the night when I spend the night so we can catch up on our tv together? Apparently, my sister and I still think we're still kids curled up in her bed watching Golden Girls together)

We had our Heart Association Walk on Saturday morning! As usual, we had a blast...

Kadin spotted Puss N Boots as soon as we walked in!

with my sister!

Kadin MELTS.MY.HEART when  he wants to write his own tribute to granny on the board.

But he REALLY melted my heart this year when he wrote his own tribute sign and spelled Granny's  name wrong. Sweetest thing ever, god I love this boy!!!!

With Sam, Paige & Mom before the walk! We're only missing Kadin here... I had someone take a pic of all of us before the walk with my actual camera, but I've gotta play around with it and make it a little better!

A couple guys from our local TV station were there this year. Kadin and I wandered off for a little bit & we spotted a WKRN booth, and to my surprise, Kadin went over and wanted to get autographs and pictures with them. This is Justin Bruce, our weatherman. As we left, Kadin went "THAT was AWESOME, we met him face to face!"

with the niece during the walk. Kadin, as usual, rode his scooter way ahead of us, and Sam, Paige & I were together - and Mom & Berniece wound up a little further behind us. Everyone had a blast!

The American Heart Association caught this of Kadin at the Finish Line! When we got to the finish line, we were cracking up because Kadin had not only finished the walk, he had went to the snack table, gotten multiple snacks and already ate! He does, however, think the walk is a race...when we start he always goes "Let the Heart Walk Challenge Race BEGIN!"

Yet another great weekend with the family....this weekend the sis will spend the night at my house for a sisters night of wine & movies! I brought back a giant case of wine from Georgia Winery, and brought home some mulling spices so my sis can finally see what it tastes like!

Even though I had a 3 1/2 hour engagement session on Sunday, I was home in plenty time for all the important Sunday night shows....you know, Once Upon a Time (seriously, I have an obsession with this show!), Revenge, Kardashians....(Is anyone else concerned about the well-being of Prince Charming on OUAT? I've convinced myself I will probably die if they kill him off the show), and made my Sunday almost completely nothing but television.

I was going to say that today is going to be my shopping afternoon, but....let's not lie, I worked from home today, so the chances of me getting out of my pajamas are pretty slim to none. What's the point of WFH if I have to get dressed, right??

Weekend....

Happy Sunday! It's a cold start here - thank goodness the rest of the week will warm up! It's totally unfair to let me come home from FL to a ridiculously cold weekend!

We did at least have a great Saturday -- which was our Heart Walk! Surprisingly, the rain went away and it was a really cold start, but warmed up as the day went on and we started walking. I didn't see what the total amount raised was, but I did see the attendance record was the highest it had ever been!

As we walked, my niece commented multiple times about how a few people had their son written on their tribute stickers, or small children had their own name on their stickers -- shocking her that such small kids were survivors of a Heart Disease. As we walked pass Vandy Children's hospital, she asked if we could go by one day and visit some of the sick kids or deliver stuffed animals to them. She is a teenager with an attitude these days for sure ---- but she has a big heart her Great Granny would be so proud of!

I love the boards where you can write notes for the people you're walking in memory of, or in tribute of. These were new last year, and they returned this year.

Paige's part of the signs

And in the "melt my heart" category, Kadin picked up a marker and wanted to do his own message this year. He grabbed it and said "What do I have to write?" and I said "Just write something about how you're doing this for your Great Granny!"

This was Kadin's message - and he came back afterwards and drew a heart underneath it and colored it in. Seriously, he's the sweetest little boy ever

My sister's note!

Getting the face paint done! We get hearts put on our cheeks each year - they have a lot of other stuff, Paige also got stars on the other cheek, but we definitely rock hearts for our Granny!

Putting the tribute stickers on! I save all of mine. I have no clue where I'll put these after awhile hahah, because right now they are just lined up down my bookcase.

My sis & I rocking our new shirts! I designed this logo last year, but not in time to have shirts made so we just did iron on shirts last year. This year, I ordered them through a printer. Apparently we need to have hoodies made for next year too so we totally match if it's cold again.

And then Paige took this one of us  -- Kadin was totally in love with his new glasses that light up. He told EVERYONE "I hope you like my glasses" (and when I say everyone, I mean when we stopped at a red light after we left, he rolled down the window and shouted "I HOPE YOU ALL LIKE MY GLASSES!!!"), so he rocked them the entire walk. The Heart Association told me they liked the "cool dude look" haha.

The Heart Walk was a great success this year, and I truly appreciate all of you that donated to our Team! Next year I am going to get a super early start and see if we can make Team Marcella an even bigger success - I usually register the team around January, so if you'll be in Nashville the first weekend in October next year and would love to walk, please shoot me an email so I can let you know when you our team is set up!

Heart Walk!

It's almost time for the American Heart Association Walk, which happens RIGHT after we get home from Florida! For those who didn't know my amazing Granny, we lost her to a Heart Attack in 2010, and since then we've been pretty active with the Heart Association!

It really is a lot of fun -- we always go early to enjoy some of the festivities, and the kids play some of the games. There's one booth that's always set up with stickers for you to write out and wear who you are walking in tribute for -- the number one reason I didn't put any text on the back of our shirts :) We love being able to write these out! (And how cute does Kadin look? I mean, seriously, one of the best parts of this is the kids being involved. Not once have these kids complained during the walk. They know what we're walking for and we're doing it for Granny.)

LAST YEAR they had a new thing set up of these massive wooden hearts where you could write in memory of someone, or just write any message for other walkers, etc. Seriously my new favorite thing - I really really hope it's there this year! I did read this year there's a tent where all walkers and groups can get photos, etc. Love it - even though I take my camera of course, I want a great group shot of everyone, so sounds like we're going to be able to get that this year at the new tent!

So, if you're in Nashville and want to walk with the group, shoot me an email :) If you just want to donate to our cause, please feel free to visit my page- right here - and donate to the American Heart Association! It's a great cause - if you aren't in Nashville and want to walk, be sure to check out what areas the other walks are in and start a team!
