Catching Up....

Who knew such a little remodel could make my week so insane? Finally -- the bathroom is complete--- after the dude completed it, and then spilled mortar down the drain. Which obviously meant -- no water could drain. The painter was supposed to come Tuesday and then just never showed up. I might have thrown a hissy fit, but clearly it worked as everything was complete Wednesday!

Because this gets shit done.

But moving on...

Last weekend, I went down to Georgia for girls weekend with my bestie. We had actually planned on going to Alabama during the day on Saturday, but the snow kind of threw us off, and we didn't want to go over the mountain. Where the hell did that snow come from, anyway? Thank goodness I decided to go Friday and have two days --- god knows that my panic in just Nashville in snow flurries would have been insane trying to drive over Monteagle Mountain!

Anyway, instead of venturing out for the day, we opted for Lazy Girls weekend -- we went to a late lunch and then headed to the Winery. We were back at the house by 3:00, where we promptly changed back into our pajamas, started putting a bottle of wine in the crock pot to mull it,  while opening another bottle of wine to start drinking. (And why is it everyone back home looks at us like we're crazy when we talk about mulling wine?! Is like Georgia the only state that knows how to rock their wine?!)

And because we were apparently afraid of being snowed in again with no wine, I bought six bottles of Concord, and Rita bought three bottles of Georgia on my Mind & Blueberry.  Forget the milk and bread, we had wine! Priorities people, priorities.

Every girl should be so fortunate to have a best friend that starts drinking wine with them at 3:30 in pj's while bitching about men, cheering on Kentucky Wildcats, singing Gene Watson, watching chick flicks like When Harry Met Sally & taking stupid silly pictures with the iPad!

I decided last week to make an iPad change and picked up the iPad mini. Um, seriously, do you even realize how much lighter this is than the regular iPad??? Even with my case on it, I forget it's in my bag sometimes.

I picked it up on the way to GA, which meant once we downed a few bottles of wine -- the more we played with the camera and giggled and took ridiculous pictures like this:

Yes, we're nerds. I know.

Mom, Samantha & I saw a screening of "Safe Haven" this week...is there ever going to be a Nicholas Sparks movie that DOESN'T make me cry? I heard the book was fabulous, and I absolutely loved the movie. I guess I'll pick up the book now and see the comparisons (yes, I'm doing this backwards).

Watch the trailer. And then drag your boyfriend out to see it.

Adventures in Remodeling....

This has been quite the week. Thursday, the guy my landlord hired to come remodel the bathroom started working. He was given an extra key since I was heading to Georgia on Friday. I came home Sunday and immediately noticed my lock was different and my key no longer worked. Luckily, the guy was here working so I could get in.

I called the neighbor on the other side of the duplex and asked him if he knew what was going on -- the guy working, Lupe, doesn't speak English very well, and I could not understand him at all. Lupe was showing me that he changed the locks, but I just didn't understand why. The neighbor tells me that Lupe locked himself out on Friday, and the landlord called the neighbor. The neighbor said he broke in, but he fixed the window they had to use to get in. So I have NO idea why Lupe decided to change my locks, and I'm not happy about it. Had I come home in the middle of the night, I would not have been able to get into my own apartment.

My poor apartment is such a mess. He laid a sheet down -- and why, I'll never know, because it did NOTHING.

My neighbor sent me these to show me what a mess this guy was making of my floors.

And when I get this, I realize he's using my towels! My towels, while he is putting tile in the shower and using grout. What???

After sweeping and running a swiffer....

Today I ran to the store and got a new mop, and a TON of different cleaning supplies, just grabbing whatever I could in hopes that it will help me restore my floors. If I can't get them to look good, I expect the landlord to hire a cleaner, because I have taken such great care of my floors in the almost-three-years that I've lived here.

And don't get me started on my front porch -- anyone know the best way to clean a welcome mat? The welcome mat I have was my Granny's, and he used his saw and all his tools on his, so it's positively disgusting. I mean, is there a certain cleaner I can use for it?

Lupe is here finishing up,and then I think a call to the landlord is in order. We clearly have to establish a better plan for when things need done in the house - because a PLUMBER changing my locks while I'm out of town, with no notice is definitely not okay.

Fingers crossed today gets better!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

But first, you know what I don't love? Waking up at 2:40 in the morning to tornado sirens. Curling up in the closet trying to keep up with what was going on without falling back asleep.....I have never been so glad to hear "All Clear" a little after 4. But boy when that alarm went off at 5, I was positive I was going to die. Look, I'm accustomed to tornadoes. Nashville goes through this all the freaking time it seems like. But seriously? 2am? Come on...I'm already insanely paranoid of them, must we make it worse and wake me up to it in the dark?

So my morning looked like this:

Curled up in a blanket that I kept peering out of -- with tons of other blankets, my purse, laptop,  my Granny's urn, water, shoes, and a jacket. Clearly, I mean business when tornados come to town.

Moving on....

What am I loving today?

This boy right here, who beat the University of Kentucky record for number of blocks in a game last night and led us to victory over Ole Miss! Go Nerlens! I love these boys!

That stuff right there! The IRS is insane quick this year, and I get my tax refund on Friday. Clearly, I'll be loading up on way more bottles of wine from my Georgia Winery on the trip this weekend hahaha.

This dressing is like a drug. I am addicted to it. Like I want to go to Zaxby's and just order an entire box of these so I can use it on everything. I have got to find a way to make something that tastes exactly like it.

Um, this Waffle & Omelet Maker is the most awesome thing I've ever seen and I want it. LOVE IT. I'm not really sure why someone that doesn't really cook loves this so much, but....hey, maybe I'll get off my ass and make something a little more often if I have this.

The fact that my brand spankin' new Mac will be here next week! The Mac nerd in me literally squealed when I placed my order. Yes, I know I need a life.

And lastly....I'm leaving for Georgia Friday night for girls weekend with my bestie, and so we can head to the winery. I love love love my Georgia wine.  Can the weekend hurry up??

It is 6:00 and I'm laying in bed already watching tv. I might have had dinner in bed too. Don't judge me. I'm tired.

Sunday Social!

Today I decided to tackle changing out the headlight bulb on the car, because it's been out forever. I've been a total jackass and used my high beams for a little while. I replaced the tail lights last year, and it was soooo easy. Headlight? Not so much. I guess it could be - the problem is it's my drivers side light, which is where the battery and battery casing is. So I can't seem to get my hand down and pull the bulb out because of the casing. I used the rain starting to fall as an excuse to stop & going to come up with something clever to get it out (tweezers? It's driving me nuts). I worked a total of 15 minutes on it and came in and loudly proclaimed I hate cars & they frustrate me, and how mad I was that it smudged my nail polish. Clearly, I was not cut out for any small mechanic work.
Sunday Social
It's Sunday! Which means... Sunday Social time!

1. What is your ideal way to relax?
Not doing a damn thing. No really - I love when I can be a total lazy bum, stay in my pajamas, watch TV and not have to worry about anything.

2. Where is your favorite place to be?
I could be totally cliche and say home, and that's definitely one of my favorite places to be. But, really, anywhere I'm with my friends/family/etc. I love being home. I love going up to Kentucky. I love going home to Florida - I have a good time everywhere I go, as long as I have my friends with me.

3. Who do you consider your biggest role model?
It's really easy for me to say PL, because goodness knows she sure helped me during my childhood/teenage years - and things I learned from her during those years is totally invaluable. But I'd be crazy not to include my Granny, the one who taught me I didn't need to worry about what anyone else thought, and I needed to do what made me happy.

4. What does your life look like in 3 years?
Who knows....

5. If you could go back and change one decision, what would it be?
I would have cut out some of the negative things/people weighing me down sooner than I did.

6. What is your biggest accomplishment in life so far?
Going back to school & starting my own business. I may have changed majors (twice), and transferred schools (from local that was absolutely killing me...this work full time, run a business on the side, and go to classes at night was pure hell.... to online UK classes) -- and taken a semester or two off, but still, I'm glad I went back.

Saturday Ramblings...

I'm in my 20's and it's Saturday night. What am I doing? Coding a client's site & designing a client's birth announcement while obnoxiously having a Merle Haggard singalong.  And my hot Saturday night dinner date was my mom. What an exciting life I lead, try not to be jealous. I get points for almost going out last minute with my sis, right? I really didn't need to drive after the drinks I had at dinner, so we stayed in. Boo.

However, the frozen Mango Margaritas from Margaritaville are just so freaking good, it's really hard to resist. I wish their food was as good as some of their liquor. We only went because Mom had her free birthday meal, but seriously, I often wonder how they get many locals to come back because they just aren't that good, and they are totally overpriced.

Anyway- I scrolled through the channels on TV tonight, I'm wondering when the hell Saturday night TV went downhill? There isn't crap on, and Saturday Night Live these days sucks, I have my choice between watching the Shipping Wars marathon on all night or make it an On Demand night (which equals I'm too lazy to go to Redbox and get a movie, and I'd rather pay $4 more.) Where are all the Saturday night movies?

However, Sunday night TV is finally good again --- because in important news, Kourtney & Kim Take Miami is back.

I mean, at this point, do we really even need any of the actual Kardashians? Can't we just call it the Scott Disick show? I'm not sure how it happened, but he went from being the biggest douche on the planet to the funniest bastard I've ever watched.

Purging...

So earlier in the week, my landlord called & said a property appraiser would be here this week. They're refinancing - so the appraiser has to see both inside and out.

Remember my lazy weekend? Yeah - no cleaning happened....which meant I had to jump into cleaning mode this week to make this place look good. Apparently they look in spaces like closets and crawlspaces and such? Guess whose hall closet is the junk closet? Whoops. I tried to make it look semi organized, really, I did!

But I got the idea to do serious cleaning in my closet, and thought "It's time to get rid of all this crap I don't wear anymore!" Not to mention, EVERY morning I get dressed and immediately decide "Ew I hate this!" and change clothes. EVERY MORNING. Seriously, why is getting dressed so ridiculous? I liked it at some point, right? Then I come home from work every afternoon immediately annoyed that there's a pile of clothes laying on my bed.

Armed with a box to send to Goodwill, and a box to just toss, I hauled butt to the closet to take on this project.

Um yeah. What did I take to Goodwill? Nothing. Every damn outfit I played the "Oh, I loved that shirt! Oh, so and so bought me that, why would I get rid of that dress, I'll eventually wear it again!" excuses. How am I going to make room for new clothes if I REFUSE TO GET RID OF CLOTHES I rip off & refuse to wear on a daily basis?

Sigh. Life was so much easier when my mom would threaten to throw away things if I didn't go through them myself.

facts of me...

Should I admit that I've been living in my pajamas for four days, minus two brief trips out on Sunday & today, in which I immediately came back home and put my pajamas back on? Back to reality tomorrow.

I have tried not to doing a ton of link ups, but I loved this one and loved reading everyone else's ---So, Whitney's doing a great link up today with random facts! (And if you're blogging, head over to Whitney's and grab her link to chime in!)
  • I totally used to think that airplanes in the sky at night were flying alligators thanks to my big sister. I spotted one at a young age, growing up in Florida and asked what it was and my sister told me it was a flying alligator. I believed it for awhile --- every time I'd see one, I'd excitedly turn around to my sister and shout "SAM! IT'S ANOTHER FLYING ALLIGATOR!" I was so pissed when I found out they were airplanes!
Aren't you jealous of our side ponytails?!

  • I cannot drive in snow. Regular ole snow, can't do it. I completely panic -- and I'll be in tears & have myself convinced that I'm going to die until I call my sister to calm me down so I can get home in one piece. I will not leave the house again until the snow is gone. See why I live in the South?
  • While I'm talking phobia's, I'm ridiculously petrified of tornadoes. My sister makes fun of me because I keep a safe area in my closet during Tennessee's most active tornado season. I say I'm just well prepared in the event of an emergency, and would rather be safe than sorry. (And I'm fully aware I sound like my mom here, sigh.)
  • My twin cousin & I cry about everything - and I do mean everything. (Which is kind of funny because I don't really know anyone else in our family on that side that cries so insanely easy) Now we usually have the random texts during the week proclaiming something stupid that made us cry. (Emily's best was "I just cried because of the woman on the radio that won today. I mean, she was so happy!")
  • And speaking of, my cousin Emily & I refer to each other as twin cousins because we've been inseparable since we were super little. When we were little, everyone assumed we were sisters, and whatever one liked, the other liked, we were practically carbon copies of each other.
  • I silently correct people on some of their Grammar. When I see someone not using "you're/your" properly, I want to punch them in the face.

  • I'm super punctual -- and if you make plans with me at an exact time and are late, I'm not going to be happy. And yes, I will look at my phone 2 minutes after and whine about how someone is late.  Time is valuable.
  • The hospital closest to my house knows my name from frequent visits -- and they usually know when I come in that it's something my clumsy ass did myself and say, "What did you do this time?" Sigh.
  • I have this weird thing about setting the alarm and have to set it for a random time -- if I want to get up around 5:30,  I will set it for 5:23, or 5:34 - but never 5:30 on the dot. This is one of the many weird things my nephew has gotten from me.
  • I've been to over 250 PL shows in 29 states (I think that's what it was at when I looked last!)
  • And on the subject of PL,  her logo from "When Fallen Angels Fly" was my first tattoo when I turned 18. My aunt swore I'd regret it & probably not even like PL in a few years. 11 years later, I still love that damn tattoo. She's the only thing I'd ever "stuck with" from childhood to now.
  • And on that note, I have 6 tats - my PL logo, the chinese symbol for "Aunt" on my left wrist, a purple heart with angel wings for my Granny on my right wrist, a music note on my toe, and my sister and I have matching palm trees on our ankles as a nod to our hometown. Finally, my sister and I also got matching chinese sister symbols on our shoulders - I have little sister & she has big sister.
  • I have the mouth of a sailor. My niece used to tell me I shouldn't "say those words" haha, and I totally tried not to. (That didn't work out so well!)
